Decorating with Maps:
I love maps. I really find them interesting to decorate with. They seem to add a feeling of Old World warmth to a room. Last August, my sister had a couple of old maps that she no longer wanted and asked if I would be interested or possibly had a client that may be interested in them.
In trying to be creative with art work in our family room, I thought these would be a great addition. I also like the way there are used in an office space and thought this would be perfect as well! After looking at them, I kept this one because of the meaning it held for me.
I often choose items that hold a personal meaning to me.
This particular map is of North East Africa which also includes Iraq. Since both my sons were stationed in Iraq in 2007 and since my oldest son has been stationed in Ethiopia for the past year and an half . . .this choice was perfect. This one holds a connection for me.
Wanting to incorporate this into my decor, I decided to gain some inspiration through these images.

I am new to your blog, and I had to giggle when I read this post. I was inspired by a Restoration Hardware map probably a year ago. The 1,200.00 price tag just blew me away. So I purchased a small map online and had it copied and enlarge to 50 x 40. It's still not hung! ugh I can't seem to figure out how to frame it without spending a fortune on the frame. What's a girl to do?
